Letter From the Principal
Dear Mountain Schools Community,
I wanted to share some important information regarding the upcoming CMAS state testing for our students in grades 3-5.
At Livermore, testing will commence this week, while Red Feather Lakes and Stove Prairie will begin next week. This assessment is a significant opportunity for our students to showcase the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the year.
I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication our students have demonstrated thus far, and I have full confidence in their abilities to excel during these assessments. To ensure minimal interruptions during testing, I kindly urge you to schedule any appointments after school whenever possible.

CMAS Testing Information
Solar Eclipse
On Monday, April 8, 2024, much of the United States will be in the path of a near total solar eclipse. This event is being called the “Great American Eclipse” because it is the first time since 2017 a solar eclipse will be visible in all 48 contiguous states. Colorado will see a partial solar eclipse, roughly between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, with a max partial eclipse occurring around 12:30 pm. In Fort Collins, we will experience a 62% eclipse. Safety is a priority. In Poudre School District, all schools participating in any activities that include viewing the Great American Eclipse will take precautionary measures with both students and staff to make this experience both safe and enjoyable. Students will be required to use eye protection designed for viewing an eclipse. This eye protection will be provided by the school.
Although there is no way to fully guarantee student safety during such a rare event, District staff will take precautionary measures, including pre-education to make students aware of the risks involved in directly looking at the sun. At no time should participants remove their eclipse glasses and look directly at the sun as it could cause permanent eye damage or other unknown effects. There is no way for the District to guarantee that your child will not remove their eclipse glasses. Please talk to your child about the importance of following instructions and of always keeping their eclipse glasses on during this event. Please return the OPT OUT form if you do NOT want your student to participate.
